Samara Lerman is an award winning filmmaker and actor based in Oakland, California. As a storyteller she is driven to create new works on stage and screen that illuminate forgotten moments of history and explore characters overlooked by media’s traditional gatekeepers. She is the recipient of a Puffin Grant and 4Culture Historic Site Specific Grant. The short film IRON directed by L. Gabriel Gonda which she co-wrote, executive produced, and starred in, has screened at 22 festivals where it has garnered numerous awards.

 Her directorial debut Amaajii was filmed on location in Mongolia, in collaboration with the shamanic community of Ulaanbaatar. She is currently collaborating with filmmakers and storytellers all over the world as the creative producer for Strowlers, a shared cinematic universe.
